More Than a Show. A Place to Belong.

Decatur Performs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, parent-volunteer organization dedicated to championing the performing arts at Decatur High School and Beacon Hill Middle School.

From the first rehearsal to opening night, we help make it possible for students to discover their voices, develop their talents, build confidence, collaborate with others, and experience the joy of creating something together.

Our programs give students opportunities to explore and excel in Acting, Chorus, Musical Theatre, Orchestra, and Technical Theatre. Decatur Performs exists to help ensure these opportunities remain strong, accessible, and supported for the students and teachers who make them possible.

What We Do

Fundraising & ticket sales to provide essential program resources

Show & concession support to help performances run smoothly

Marketing & communications to promote programs and celebrate student achievements

Community engagement to connect our programs with the broader Decatur community

Volunteer coordination to bring parents and community members into the work

Event support for performances, festivals, competitions, and other program activities

Teacher support to help educators focus on what they do best—teaching and inspiring students

Administrative liaison to help connect performing arts programs with school administration

We believe in the power of the performing arts to help students find their voices and find their people.

100% Parent Volunteer Powered

Everything we do happens because parents step forward.

Decatur Performs is entirely operated by parent volunteers who donate their time, talents, and energy to support the performing arts. That involvement matters—not just to the success of individual performances, but to the long-term strength of our programs.

Parent Involvement Matters

When parents get involved, we can:

Reduce the operational burden on teachers
Giving educators more time and energy to focus on students, instruction, and artistic development.

Improve event execution and audience engagement
From front-of-house support to concessions and promotion, volunteers help create a better experience for everyone.

Build continuity and long-term program success
Strong parent involvement helps programs maintain momentum from one year to the next.

Provide a front-row seat to your student's experience
Volunteering is a wonderful way to see the creativity, dedication, friendships, and growth that happen behind the scenes.
