Our ProgramsTraining Tomorrow's Performers
Whether you're stepping onto the stage for the first time or preparing for a future in the performing arts, Decatur High School's Musical Theatre program offers opportunities to grow as a performer, artist, and collaborator. Students develop skills in acting, singing, dance, and technical theatre through engaging coursework and live productions that build confidence, creativity, and teamwork
Beginning & Intermediate Musical Theatre
Build a strong foundation in the performing arts while exploring the essentials of acting, singing, and dance. This course is designed for students looking to develop their performance skills in a supportive, collaborative environment. Students also participate in the annual Theatre Revue.
Designed for experienced performers, Advanced Musical Theatre challenges students to refine their craft through rigorous training and performance opportunities. Students participate in the Spring Musical, which is submitted for consideration in the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Shuler Awards), while continuing to strengthen their acting, vocal, and dance techniques. They also participate in the annual Theatre Revue
Advanced Musical Theatre
Raven Owen-Beyer, Director
Raven Owen-Beyer attended her first Broadway musical, The Phantom of the Opera, at the age of nine. She started crying during the second act and continued throughout the whole car ride home. She has been a devoted musical theater fan ever since. She earned a BFA in Acting and Directing from Marymount Manhattan College before performing and pursuing theatre in New York City. She later taught and directed at The Hill School in Virginia. When she's not directing a production, Raven enjoys cosplay, reading YA fiction, spending time outdoors, eating cheese, and being with her husband and young son. She still sees every musical she can—and occasionally cries on the ride home.
